A technical knowledge base for system administrators, network engineers, DevOps specialists, and security practitioners. Every article aims to be something you can actually run, verify, and trust — not a rewrite of a man page.

How this wiki is organized

Each handbook article follows the same shape, so you always know what to expect:

  1. What the technology is and how it actually works under the hood.
  2. Real commands, with every flag explained.
  3. What the output looks like and how to read it.
  4. Where Ubuntu/Debian and RHEL-family systems diverge, when it matters.
  5. A practical exercise you can do yourself.
  6. How to verify you did it correctly.
  7. Mistakes people actually make.
  8. Explicit warnings before anything destructive.
  9. Review questions.

Scope and honesty

This wiki does not claim to have tested things it hasn't. Where a command's output is shown as an example, it is described as representative output for that command — not a transcript from a specific machine unless stated otherwise. Where we did run something to confirm it (most shell and systemd examples), that's noted in the text.
